The association's stated aims are to:

• Advocate for national legislation on lubricant quality in Australia
• Verify that product claims aren't false or misleading
• Help buyers select fit-for-purpose lubricants, backed by laboratory testing and ALA product certification

Australia has no equivalent of the European quality framework. There's a great deal of imported oil in this market and very little independent checking of what gets printed on the drum, which makes ALA certification one of the few checks a buyer can lean on.

Claire set up Chematek's Australian operation in 2016, after eleven years in investment banking in London and a Master's in Engineering from Cambridge. She's spent the years since selling oil into workshops, mines and fleets in every state.

Chematek works inside the European framework every day: the ATIEL Code of Practice, EELQMS, the ACEA sequences and the substantiation each of them demands before a claim goes on a label. Claire takes that onto the ALA board.
